How to Package 1-on-1 Coaching With Masterminds
Nour
Founder, Coachful

Package 1-on-1 coaching with a mastermind by giving each format a distinct purpose and a realistic allowance. The group provides facilitated peer reflection; private sessions make space for the individual's chosen work. State how they connect, what remains private and how much support the buyer actually receives.
A hybrid is useful when a client wants both formats and you can deliver them. It is not automatically the best-converting tier or a way to add private work without adding time. The offer, cases and figures below are original illustrations.
Choose the combination for a real need
| Format | Useful opportunity | What to explain |
|---|---|---|
| Private coaching | Focused discussion of one person's agreed question. | Scope, frequency, information audience and between-session support. |
| Mastermind | Hear relevant peer questions and experience over repeated meetings. | Membership fit, clinic rotation, conduct and information limits. |
| Hybrid | Connect individual reflection with chosen peer participation. | Separate allowances, records, booking rules and permission to move information. |
A person may prefer private coaching without a group, or a group without individual sessions. A hybrid should not imply that people buying the core tier are less serious. Explain the differences through actual delivery rather than prestige labels.
Discuss fit before purchase. If someone needs legal advice on a shareholder dispute, that remains a specialist need. Coaching may help them prepare questions or reflect on a conversation within competence; a private appointment does not turn the coach into a legal adviser.
Give three operational pillars an owner
First, organize the shared and individual experience. The participant should find the group calendar, relevant resources and private booking route without private material appearing in a community feed.
Second, allocate booking capacity. An included session needs an actual usable booking window, coach availability and clear handling of missed or unused appointments. A credit balance alone does not create open calendar time.
Third, review appropriate actions and learning. Let the client choose what belongs in private coaching or a peer discussion. App activity, habits and a goal record can inform a conversation where appropriate, but they do not automatically measure commitment or belong in both audiences.

Define four service elements clearly
- Mastermind core: The actual cadence, duration, cohort and individual clinic arrangement.
- Private sessions: Quantity, length, intended use, booking period and facilitator.
- Digital resources and community: Selected access, audience, duration and support arrangements.
- Asynchronous support: Whether it is included, where messages go, volume and response hours.
Each creates work. If a tier excludes private messaging, say so clearly. If it includes it, avoid an unlimited promise costed on the assumption that members rarely use it.
Copy this complete fictional offer card
This example is a six-month hybrid for twelve leaders, with six of those members buying the private-session tier. It is a design example, not a market-price recommendation or legal agreement.
| Field | Proposed term to review |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Reflect on leadership decisions through facilitated peer inquiry and optional individual coaching. |
| Group | One defined cohort of up to twelve members, subject to admissions and the real launch terms. |
| Duration | Six calendar months with stated start and end dates. |
| Group cadence | Two 90-minute calls per month, with dates supplied before purchase. |
| Clinic access | A published rotation; participation and disclosure remain choices. |
| Private allowance | Six 45-minute sessions over the term for the hybrid tier, normally one per month. |
| Booking | Agreed availability and advance-booking expectations; cancellation and expiry terms shown clearly. |
| Resources | The specifically selected course/resources and actual access period. |
| Community | The named cohort space with conduct and audience arrangements. |
| Messages | A bounded private support allowance if actually included, with named staffed hours. |
| Price and payment | Illustrative total$6,000; any installment total, dates, taxes and renewal terms shown separately. |
| Review and ending | Review fit during the term; completion does not automatically enroll the person in another service. |
Decide whether the six private sessions are one total allowance or a genuinely renewing monthly entitlement. These are different booking arrangements. State rollover, travel, holidays, coach absence and any rescheduling route before the client relies on them.
A six-month delivery calendar
A practical plan could use the first and third Tuesday of each month for group calls, with designated private booking blocks on other dates. These dates are examples; actual holidays, time zones and accessibility may require another schedule.
| Month | Group emphasis | Private use the client may choose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Purpose, boundaries and first peer clinic. | Clarify an individual question and useful outcomes. |
| 2 | Hear different approaches to a relevant leadership situation. | Rehearse a conversation or explore an emerging concern. |
| 3 | Review early experiments and remaining questions. | Check the work's fit and whether the original focus has changed. |
| 4 | Apply learning in a different context. | Examine a specific decision without needing group disclosure. |
| 5 | Discuss adjustments and useful constraints. | Prepare an appropriate next step within the person's authority. |
| 6 | Reflect on learning and completion. | Decide what to keep, change or seek support for after the term. |
This calendar is an invitation to relevant work, not six mandatory psychological stages. A participant can use a fictional practice case or decline a topic that would expose restricted information.
Keep private and peer work connected by permission
In this fictional case, Leila discusses a difficult board conversation privately. She wants peer perspectives on preparing questions, but her notes include sensitive shareholder details.
Leila: Could we put this whole situation into the next hot seat?
Coach: Which question would you like peers to help explore, and what information are you able and willing to share?
Leila: I want to prepare a conversation about expectations. The shareholder terms need to stay with my legal adviser.
Coach: What would an appropriate brief contain?
Leila: A general description of conflicting expectations, without names, terms or the board papers.
Coach: We can review that proposed brief with the group purpose and boundaries before choosing a place.
Private discussion has helped Leila select a suitable question. It has not authorized the coach to paste her private recap into the group or advise on legal rights. The current ICF ethics code supports clear information-exchange agreements and working within competence.
For a clinic request, use a short original form: the question, appropriate context, what has been tried, the kind of peer input wanted and what must remain outside discussion. The client can change or withdraw the request. The executive-mastermind guide provides timed facilitation examples.
Count private work before offering upgrades
The original twenty-five-member architecture can be examined as fictional arithmetic. Two 90-minute group calls per month take 3 hours. Twenty-five 45-minute private calls take 18.75 hours. Together they require 21.75 live hours per month.
That is about 5.02 live hours per week when averaged over 52 weeks using 21.75×12÷52. It is not the whole delivery workload. A four-week month and an annual weekly average are also different planning periods.
Add an illustrative 6 hours for group preparation/follow-up,6 for individual preparation/notes,12 for bounded asynchronous work and 4 for administration. The total becomes 49.75 hours per month before marketing, training, absence or a retreat. Demand for messages may increase further.
At a hypothetical$2,000 per month, twenty-five fully paying members generate$50,000 monthly gross billings and$600,000 annualized. The arithmetic does not establish cash collected, profit, capacity or actual outcomes. Decide whether twenty-five people can receive the advertised peer airtime as well as the private appointments.
Review a smaller upgrade decision completely
Consider another invented comparison: a group-only annual price of$10,000 and a hybrid annual price of$22,000. Eight people changing for a full year would add 8×$12,000=$96,000 in scheduled gross value at those assumed prices.
If each receives one 45-minute private session per month, the new private work is 8×12×45=4,320 minutes, or 72 live hours per year. Fifteen minutes of preparation and notes per appointment adds 24 hours, bringing the increment to 96 hours before any additional messaging, booking or concerns.
The useful question is whether those 96 hours and calendar blocks exist, and what they cost. This is not an observed case of eight immediate upgrades, and a midyear switch would require the actual pricing, timing and payment treatment rather than the full-year illustration.
Decide group airtime and asynchronous expectations
Two clinic places per call across twelve group calls create twenty-four places over six months. A twelve-member group could plan two per member, subject to attendance and the agreed rotation. A twenty-five-member group could not promise even one individual clinic place to every person from those twenty-four places alone.
Private sessions do not silently make that group promise true. Change the roster, agenda, number of calls or stated clinic arrangement.
For asynchronous work, specify a brief, a reply allowance and how follow-up counts. Give staffed days, time zone, a reply deadline and the out-of-hours rule. Peer replies are voluntary, and an urgent message does not convert the service into continuous monitoring. A topic that needs a live or specialist conversation should move through an agreed route.
Check eight technical standards against the real setup
- Portal navigation: Members can distinguish group events, resources and private appointments.
- Community: The selected channel audience matches the offer and actual enrollment.
- Session entitlement: Correct session type, quantity, validity and booking rules are saved; check program-controlled versus separate offer sessions.
- Recordings: Decide whether a session should be recorded and who may receive it before creating a replay plan.
- Billing: Verify price, interval, finite plan or renewal, and the actual purchaser's record.
- Private records: Separate working notes, submitted answers, shared recaps and group material through their real permissions.
- Progress information: Review only appropriate, visible material; private client takeaways are not a coach monitoring inbox.
- Devices and access: Confirm the intended usable app/browser route, actual access duration and an accessible alternative.
These standards guide the setup. They do not promise universal searchable replay vaults, automatic peer pods, end-to-end encryption or unrestricted access to every member's records.
Build the Coachful offer without duplicating entitlements
In Offers, select the actual program, resources, configured relationship/community access and private-session inclusions in What they get. A descriptive benefit line explains a service but does not create it. Each tier needs its own reviewed inclusions.
If the included program controls the private sessions, Use the program's sessions can advertise that allowance without adding a second set of credits. Check the program's authoritative booking and allowance rules. Separate offer sessions require their own real quantity and conditions.
Offers support two to six plans. Existing buyers keep the exact plan, price and access they bought; editing a tier affects new purchases and future switches. Plan change behavior also differs: a coach's Change plan schedules the new plan and price for next renewal with no charge today, though an upgrade can unlock now. An eligible client-initiated paid upgrade can apply immediately with provider proration.
Review the actual operation and buyer terms before quoting a result. Explore Coachful's features; the group pricing guide helps connect scope, capacity and costs.
Keep retreats and continuation explicit
An annual retreat can be optional or included, but it needs actual dates, purpose, venue, access arrangements, travel responsibilities, staffing and cancellation terms. Allocate its time and costs separately. A private session package does not automatically include two days away.
At completion, review outstanding appointments, records, billing and access sources. A client may choose group-only participation, another competent service or no further coaching. Present any alumni option with its actual new commitment rather than treat continuation as the proof that the hybrid worked.
Ask what each format contributed and what was unnecessary. If members mostly want individual work, reduce the group component rather than keep it to justify a package label. If the group meets their need, private sessions can remain an optional choice.

Frequently asked questions
Should every mastermind member receive private sessions?
No. Offer them where useful and feasible, with clear differences between tiers. Do not imply that a group-only member lacks a complete service.
Is one private session per month standard?
It is one possible design. Two sessions per quarter or a fixed term allowance may fit another service. Explain quantity and booking rules explicitly.
Can I share private-session learning in the group?
Agree the appropriate question, material and audience with the client. Do not copy private notes or recaps merely because both formats are in one package.
Does adding private work preserve the same delivery time?
No. Budget appointments, preparation, notes, booking and follow-up, including realistic message demand and peak weeks.
Does the private format expand my professional scope?
No. Competence and role boundaries still apply. ICF's client-referral guidance encourages open discussion when another helping professional is appropriate.
