How to Package Group Coaching with One-to-One Sessions

Package group coaching with one-to-one sessions by giving the shared and private elements distinct jobs. State the actual group dates, individual allowance, resources, returned feedback, information boundaries and ending terms. Then cost the whole delivery mix before setting the price or accepting participants.

More private contact is not automatically better. A complete group option can suit someone who does not want individual sessions, while another participant may value additional private reflection. This guide develops the packaging decisions and follows an original completed four-week case with two choices, an actual refusal and a lower-than-planned financial remainder.

Decide what belongs in each setting

The shared room can support common learning, practice, questions and appropriately offered peer perspectives. Private time can support a person’s chosen context, preparation or review. Explain how they connect without making disclosure from the private session a condition of group participation.

Also distinguish coaching, teaching and facilitation. A coach may demonstrate a communication structure in the group and use private coaching to explore whether it suits the participant. Neither activity creates clinical, legal or assessment competence outside the practitioner’s actual role.

The current ICF Code of Ethics addresses agreements and information exchange. An ICF Ethics Assist article also emphasizes that confidentiality limits and sponsor reporting need clear discussion. These professional sources do not guarantee peers’ conduct or make group discussion private from everyone who attends. Agree sensible rules and respond to concerns through a usable route.

Choose a simple combination before adding tiers

One option is a group service plus separately offered private appointments. Another includes a fixed private allowance in a second package. A third is a single blended service where every participant receives the same private sessions. Choose the arrangement that serves the audience and can actually be delivered.

If you offer separate choices, each needs a coherent purpose. Do not deliberately omit essential group instruction from the lower option so participants must buy private help to understand the service. Equally, a group price does not imply unlimited individual advice whenever someone wants it.

Use clear quantities. “Two private sessions” means two in total unless you explicitly say otherwise. A higher tier with four sessions should not be confused with four additional to the lower tier. A separately scheduled intensive needs its own purpose, clock, breaks, preparation, costs and capacity; it is not merely a larger number on the comparison card.

Give private sessions different purposes

An opening conversation can clarify the participant’s own learning question, preferences and appropriate participation route. It should not become a compulsory diagnosis or a demand for sensitive history. Ask what, if anything, the participant wants to carry into the group.

A later review can examine an actual attempt, an unfinished question or how the participant wishes to continue. Distinguish their report from an independently established outcome. An incomplete experiment can reflect resources or circumstances; it is not proof of resistance.

For a longer service, a midpoint session may have another useful job. Add it because that job exists and you have capacity, rather than assuming every program requires an opening, midpoint and closing call. Completion should remain possible without agreeing to an alumni offer or another purchase.

Write the allowance and the practical terms

Publish actual dates, duration, participation format, private booking windows and the support route. Explain what happens after an absence, an unused private allowance or a reschedule request. A private session does not automatically replace a missed group meeting; that would create a different service and workload.

Specify the promised written feedback. Is a submission used only for internal review, returned with a bounded comment, or discussed in a scheduled session? Name the client-facing return route. An internal coach review is not the same as delivering feedback to the participant.

The CMA’s current consumer-contract guidance emphasizes fair, transparent terms and meaningful information before agreement. Apply the rules relevant to the actual transaction; do not assume every buyer has the same legal status or that a prominently displayed restriction is automatically fair. Explain total price, applicable charges and the real consequences of changes without hiding them in a comparison footnote.

Plan airtime and alternatives before selling places

Count the opportunities actually available. A 75-minute group meeting cannot provide four members with private 45-minute sessions inside the same room. Explain whether each person has a featured turn, volunteers for selected turns or primarily learns through shared practice.

Allow a genuine pass, written preparation or an appropriate observing route. Do not treat personal disclosure as proof of commitment. If someone declines a turn, do not automatically transfer their future entitlement to another person or promise an extra private call without capacity and agreement.

Choose resources that participants can use. Meaningful headings and clear instructions help people find the task; W3C’s page-structure guidance supports that general design principle. It does not certify a particular resource or prove that every access need has been met. Ask about the actual participation arrangements before relying on the format.

Cost the mixture rather than a single ideal participant

Include shared delivery, every private session, preparation, notes, feedback, scheduling, access support, resources, sales administration and closure. Shared work may remain when one fewer person enrolls; private work changes with the actual mix. Calculate the proposed mix and a suitable minimum before committing to delivery.

The Australian government’s pricing guide recommends considering costs, business goals, customer value and market testing. These are business-planning considerations, not evidence for a particular coaching price or margin. Your calculation needs the actual relevant labor, overhead and other costs, with applicable tax treatment handled appropriately.

Keep a planning labor allocation separate from wages actually paid and cash received. A positive modeled remainder is not statutory profit or automatically spendable cash. If your estimates exclude work, name the omission rather than advertising the resulting percentage as a complete margin.

Worked package: two complete choices for four weeks

The original fictional case runs from 1–29 May 2052, in UTC. Tessa facilitates four participants: Dena and Mo choose Core; Ava and Finn choose Plus. The group minimum is four, reached before the start. The figures are fictional USD totals assuming no additional mandatory charges in this illustration; they are not typical prices or a tax conclusion for a real sale.

ChoiceIncluded shared servicePrivate allowanceTotal
CoreFour 75-minute group meetings, the stated preparation resource and one returned comment on one selected personal learning summaryNo private meeting includedUSD 300
PlusThe complete Core serviceTwo 45-minute private meetings, with their own preparation and reviewUSD 500

The actual group dates are Monday 6, 13, 20 and 27 May, each 17:00–18:15 UTC. Ava’s private meetings are 8 and 22 May; Finn’s are 9 and 23 May. All four private meetings occur within the agreed windows. There is no extra working day, peer-pod obligation, unlimited messaging or automatic renewal.

Completed service brief: “Core is a complete four-meeting group service with one returned private comment on your selected learning summary. Plus adds two private 45-minute meetings in total. The group uses general practice and participant-chosen material; your private example will not be brought into it without an appropriate agreement. No replay is offered. You may keep the supplied blank resource for personal reference, without reproducing peers’ material. Ending does not require another purchase.”

The case uses an external group video room and one external accounting authority. Tessa checks the room arrangement, including the no-recording setting, during setup. No native Coachful checkout, automatic cohort enrollment or platform recording behavior is inferred from the service copy.

Complete the choice rather than pushing private work

Each participant uses 20 minutes before the first meeting to read the actual scope, choose, handle the stated payment and participation arrangements. Those minutes include the relevant booking choices for Plus. Tessa’s 90 setup minutes cover 30 preparing the service brief, 30 handling the four choices and welcome, 20 checking the external room and resources, and ten checking the individual client-record routes.

Mo asks whether Core will leave an essential gap. Tessa gives the concrete answer:

Actual choice answer: “Core includes all four shared meetings, the resource and your returned comment. It does not depend on buying private sessions to complete the group work. Plus serves people who want the two additional private conversations. You can choose Core if that fits, and I will not promise an unlisted private appointment later.”

Mo chooses Core and declines a private add-on. Dena also chooses Core; Ava and Finn choose Plus for their own questions. Tessa records all four fees as settled before 6 May: USD 600 from the two Core places plus USD 1,000 from the two Plus places, totaling USD 1,600. This is a completed small cohort, not proof of wider demand.

Tessa’s separate 60 administration minutes include 20 preparing the invoice/payment records, checking fee settlement and paying the identified USD 100 delivery cost, 20 coordinating the private appointments and 20 maintaining attendance and service records. Setup handles the choice and welcome; administration handles these stated records. No second invoice or payment is created in Coachful.

Deliver the shared room without forcing private exposure

Each group meeting uses ten minutes for orientation or a demonstration, four offered 12-minute participant turns and 17 minutes for synthesis and closure. Ten plus 48 plus 17 equals 75. Across four meetings there are 16 offered turns, four per person.

The four themes are choosing a bounded practice, making a clear request, considering actual alternatives and reviewing independent use. In each turn the member can describe a suitable question, ask for clarification and decide what to take away. Peer experience is offered with permission, not presented as a required solution.

Mo passes the second meeting’s turn and observes. The call retains its full duration; that turn is not reassigned as an additional entitlement. The actual count is 15 used featured turns and one pass. No extra private meeting is implied.

All four members attend all four group meetings, using 300 minutes each. Each also spends ten minutes preparing before each meeting, totaling 40. Ava and Finn each attend their two actual private meetings, prepare ten minutes for each and use ten afterward for their own chosen record: another 130 minutes per Plus member. Tessa counts the corresponding preparation and notes in her own account.

Give the shared resource an actual job

The resource is a short original practice card. Tessa’s resource-preparation account includes drafting it, checking the wording and preparing the copy supplied with the welcome. Members read and revisit it within their four ten-minute preparation allowances. It does not create an additional uncounted assignment.

Shared practice card: “Choose an ordinary request you can discuss appropriately, or use an invented situation. State what is being requested, the time or resource it would require and which decision belongs to you. Ask one clear question where another owner’s decision is needed. Do not promise that a colleague has accepted work before they actually agree. You may remove identifying detail, choose another example or pass. After practice, record what you want to keep, revise or leave undecided.”

The same card supports different turns without requiring the same personal disclosure. One person may practise an opening; another may compare options; a later turn can review what happened. No peer is required to solve the member’s problem or act as an emergency contact.

This connects the group and individual work through a common purpose, while leaving the client free to keep private content outside the shared room. The card is not a validated assessment or a proprietary coaching protocol. A readable resource and a clear agenda support delivery; they do not establish a particular learning outcome.

Return the promised comment and repair a real scope mistake

On 24 May each member spends 15 minutes preparing and sending one selected personal learning summary after the later practice. This is one submission, not four separately promised weekly reviews. Tessa’s planned support allowance is 120 minutes: ten reading each summary and twenty composing and sending each individual comment.

The actual returns later on 24 May use the existing private client conversations. Tessa’s first comment to Ava mistakenly proposes using an example from Ava’s private meeting in the final group. It is a proposal sent only to Ava; no private content has been disclosed to peers. Ava spends an additional five minutes reading it and objecting:

Actual refusal: “I do not want the private example used in the group. I chose a private meeting for that discussion. I am willing to practise with an invented situation if the distinction stays clear.”

On 27 May Tessa uses another 30 support minutes before the 17:00 group. From 10:00 to 10:25 she spends ten minutes reading the objection and fifteen rewriting and sending the corrected practice material. Ava reads and answers from 10:25 to 10:30; Tessa reads that answer from 10:30 to 10:35. Her actual correction is:

Corrected private return: “Your private example stays outside the group. My earlier proposal did not establish your permission, and I withdraw it. If you choose, use this invented situation: two ordinary preparation requests compete for one available period. Practise explaining the conflict and asking which request has priority. Do not supply your private context or name real people. You can also pass. This changes the practice material; it does not create a new private session or require you to share more.”

Ava uses the ordinary five-minute comment-reading allowance to read and accept that corrected route. The earlier five minutes are additional, not hidden inside it. Ava then uses the invented situation in the final group. The other three participants each use their five-minute allowance to read their actual private comments; no extra acknowledgment from them is claimed.

Tessa has corrected a real mistake and spent extra time doing it. She cannot treat the first proposal as a successful consent check or use the later acceptance to justify unapproved disclosure elsewhere. The group and private permissions remain distinct.

Close the promised service and information use

All group and private meetings finish as listed. On 28 May Tessa uses 60 closing minutes: 30 reviewing the existing attendance, feedback, work and cost records and 30 composing and sending the final selected account to all four members. Ava’s earlier answer was already read inside the repair block; it is not a new closing reply.

Completed close: “The four shared meetings and the private meetings included in Plus are complete. Each selected summary received its individual returned comment. Mo’s pass did not create another appointment, and Ava’s private example has not been used in the group. You may keep the supplied blank resource for personal reference under the stated terms. No peer material is available for reproduction. There is no renewal or further purchase required. Your next use remains your choice.”

Each member spends five minutes reading this close on 29 May. No new acknowledgments or alumni enrollment are claimed. The service is complete even though no employer outcome, lasting behavior change or general demand for another cohort has been established.

Reconcile coach work and the planning remainder

The resources require 30 more minutes than estimated; the comment repair requires another 30. Planned coach work totals 1,080 minutes, or 18 hours. Actual work is 1,140 minutes, or 19 hours, within 1,200 allocated minutes. The remaining coach capacity is 60 minutes; it is not an included extra appointment.

The model allocates USD 60 per coach-hour and USD 100 of other identified delivery costs, paid and allocated to this run. Planned cost is USD 1,080 plus USD 100, or USD 1,180. Against USD 1,600 fees, the planned remainder is USD 420, or 26.25%.

Actual modeled cost is USD 1,140 plus USD 100, or USD 1,240. The remainder is USD 360, or 22.5%, missing Tessa’s 25% planning target. The hour allocation is not a wage payment or statutory profit calculation. Cash received less the USD 100 paid cost is USD 1,500 before owner labor and other obligations; it is a different measure.

Include participant receiving work

DenaScope and participation arrangements 20; shared meetings 300; group preparation 40; summary 15; comment read 5; close read 5385 / 420

FinnCore activity 385; private meetings 90; private preparation 20; own post-session records 20515 / 550

Participant activity totals 1,805 minutes against 1,950 allocated. With Tessa’s 1,140, the described project uses 2,945 person-minutes against 3,150, leaving 205 for those activities. Optional personal thinking or workplace application outside the described service is not measured. This is not a whole-life capacity or employer-productivity claim.

Make software inclusions match the actual package

Coachful is our #1 recommendation for organizing defined coaching inclusions and individual follow-through. This is an editorial workflow recommendation, not a measured market ranking or margin guarantee. In the case, the actual returned comments use individual client conversations; private Coach review is not delivery.

When using an Offer, select the actual resources, session type and quantity in What they get and check each saved choice. A template can prefill session-access defaults, including a type supplied by the builder. The template name or descriptive benefit list is not proof that the correct private allowance is configured.

Keep the actual group delivery, private booking arrangements, payment authority and resource permissions clear. This case does not claim that a saved Offer enrolled the group, charged anyone or configured the external room. Check the supported workflow before promising those results.

For curriculum and airtime, use the group-program structure guide. Compare an ongoing service with multi-tier memberships, and explore Coachful’s features against the service you have defined.

Frequently asked questions

Must every hybrid package have three tiers?

No. Choose the number of complete, understandable options that serves the audience and your delivery capacity.

Does Core need private sessions to count as complete?

Core here is complete without them. If your chosen service includes private sessions, publish that allowance explicitly rather than requiring an unlisted private purchase.

Can I use private examples to teach the group?

Do not assume permission. Address the actual information use and agreement, and offer an appropriate alternative or pass.

Does more private work guarantee a better result?

No. Give each session a purpose and review actual usefulness. More contact can add cost without being the right fit.

Can a positive planning remainder be called profit?

Keep the calculation’s scope clear. Actual accounting profit, cash receipts and a modeled remainder can differ materially.
