How to Structure a Multi-Tier Corporate Advisory Proposal

A multi-tier corporate advisory proposal presents genuinely different service choices against a confirmed need. Define each option's participants, work, access, reporting, fee and limits. Recommend a suitable choice while leaving the buyer free to choose another, request different scope or decline.

Three tiers are a design choice, not a rule about buyer psychology. One complete option may be enough when the need is clear. Avoid an expensive decoy whose only purpose is to make another price look attractive. The worked example below follows a revised pilot proposal through participant objections, signing and a late first payment, without claiming that future delivery has happened.

Part one: confirm the context and decision

A single option asks whether one scope fits. Multiple options explain tradeoffs such as individual versus collective work, frequency or preparation depth. They do not remove the underlying question of whether to engage you.

Use discovery to establish needs, constraints, alternatives and approval requirements. The SBA's market-research guidance considers demand, alternatives and direct customer information. It does not establish an optimal tier ratio or a predictable response to three prices.

A fictional company wants clearer handoffs among four regional leads and private development support for one new leader. An original opening could say:

You described unclear handoff ownership across four regions and a development need for the new regional lead. These options support different parts of that work. Private coaching is separate from collective process discussions, and operating decisions remain with your authorized managers. Please correct the brief before selecting a scope; the proposal does not assume that every handoff problem is caused by leadership behavior.

Separate confirmed facts from assumptions. Do not invent a cost of inaction or promise savings from an unsupported turnover figure. A buyer confirming the brief has not necessarily authorized spending or agreed every participant's involvement.

Part two: build a complete scope comparison

The following original options and USD prices are hypothetical. Each column is a complete alternative, not automatically cumulative. All support uses published staffed weekdays and a 17:00 deadline on the next staffed weekday after receipt, Europe/London time, excluding published holidays and leave. State final submission and reply dates too.

Define preparation, action summaries, booking, unused allowances, expenses and exclusions alongside the table. “Quarterly” is not “monthly,” and document count is not unlimited analysis. Additional stakeholders do not acquire access to private coaching content by attending a shared meeting.

Build your platform

The ICF Code of Ethics provides professional context for agreeing roles and information exchange. It does not settle the legal basis for every disclosure or make one template suitable for all jurisdictions.

Coachful demo coaching offers with different service formats
Coachful’s demo Offers page illustrates different service formats and example offer prices.

Part three: show the first-period roadmap

For three months, month one can confirm agreements, priorities, relevant examples and the first action. Month two applies the work and checks whether the format fits. Month three reviews evidence and decides the next scope or ending.

Name every included meeting and review date. If the middle option starts in January, two private meetings in each month mean six over January to March, plus one quarterly shared session and the forty-five-minute sponsor review. Agree the actual calendar and audiences. A phase called “execution” does not tell anyone how many appointments they receive.

Formal assessments, extra interviews and workshops must appear in both allowance and capacity. A review may reveal that a participant needs a different service. Do not force the original roadmap to survive simply because it appears in a polished proposal.

Part four: explain the actual acceptance steps

Name the version, validity period, authorized decision owner, question route and next actions. Distinguish selecting a scope for procurement from signing, paying, creating an account, enrolling and booking. Electronic delivery does not complete all those states.

If an MSA and statement of work are used, the former can contain general terms and the latter the selected service. Review precedence, changes and purchase-order terms with suitable legal advisers for the actual parties and jurisdiction. The document titles do not guarantee enforceability.

Prepare a factual vendor pack: correct legal entity, invoice and purchase-order process, relevant tax forms, actual insurance evidence, credentials, data-handling information and contract contacts. A security questionnaire needs evidence, not invented certificates or a claim of “SOC 2-aligned hosting.” The NCSC's supply-chain guidance places assurance within continuing oversight. Its introduction is not a supplier certification or promise that procurement will approve you quickly.

Recommend scope without hiding the price tradeoff

An original written recommendation can explain: the first option supports one leader privately; the second adds a defined quarterly conversation for four leads; the third supports all four privately and provides monthly shared work. The middle option may fit the stated brief, but it does not provide private coaching to the other three people.

If procurement asks for the second scope at the first price, ask which work matters most. You might reduce reviews, change cadence or propose a separate phase. A discount is a commercial choice; it must not hide an undeliverable promise.

For the focused option, two meeting hours, one preparation hour, one support hour and one documentation/administration hour total five provider hours monthly, before sponsor and initial contracting work. A month containing the thirty-minute sponsor review needs that additional time. This is a partial capacity estimate, not full profitability evidence.

The four-leader option already contains eight private live hours plus ninety minutes shared: 9.5 provider live hours monthly before preparation or support. The adjacent fee ratios are both 2.0. That does not establish equal margins; calculate the work, peaks and costs behind each option before setting actual prices.

Offer a pilot as a different service

A proposed sixty-day pilot at a fictional USD 6,000 could include four sixty-minute private meetings, one ninety-minute shared workshop for four participants, two document reviews of up to ten slides each and a separate forty-five-minute review. In the worked pilot below, support is one concise relevant question weekly from the named private participant, using the stated next-staffed-weekday clock. The other three workshop participants do not acquire private question support. Define preparation, information boundaries and commercial terms.

The provider's planned live time is 240+90+45=375 minutes, or six hours fifteen minutes. Participant and sponsor attendance, preparation and receiving time need their own arrangements. None is included merely by quoting provider live time. Preparation, question support and documentation also need a cost estimate.

This is not two months of every middle-tier feature. Two monthly USD 4,000 fees would total USD 8,000, but the pilot's different counts and limits must stand on their own. State what the review will help decide and let the buyer finish without purchasing the next stage.

A complete proposal, correction and payment example

In this original fictional case, Noor is the provider, Jamie the authorized buyer, Eli the prospective private participant and Mina the finance contact. The measured work runs from 1 to 18 November 2027. It concerns procurement and preparation, not delivery of the future pilot.

Noor spends thirty minutes on 1 November preparing and sending the tier and pilot comparison to Jamie. Jamie uses fifteen minutes on 2 November reading and asking for the middle-tier benefits at the first-tier price. Noor spends twenty minutes on 3 November reading and sending this recommendation:

The middle option adds shared work and a larger review allowance, so I cannot promise its full scope at the focused option's price. If the priority is to test the approach before a longer commitment, consider the separate sixty-day pilot at USD 6,000. It has four private meetings, one shared workshop, two bounded document reviews and a final review, with support defined separately. You can keep the focused option, examine the pilot or decline. A selection now would start procurement, not enroll participants or collect payment.

Jamie spends ten minutes on 4 November reading and selecting the pilot for procurement. On 5 November Noor uses fifteen minutes to read that selection and prepare and send detailed P1 scope to Eli and Mina. P1 mistakenly carries over “quarterly team session” instead of clearly specifying the pilot's one ninety-minute workshop.

Eli spends fifteen minutes on 8 November reading and replying no to recording shared work. Mina also spends fifteen reading, identifying the cadence inconsistency and asking for the correct purchase-order reference. They are substantive objections, not buying signals to push through.

Noor spends twenty minutes on 9 November reading both replies and preparing and sending P2 to Jamie, Eli and Mina. It corrects the shared-work count to one ninety-minute workshop, accepts no recording, provides a general teaching summary without private disclosures, and separates private coaching from sponsor information. It also states the payments, access and ending arrangements.

The planned sixty days run from 22 November 2027 through 20 January 2028 inclusive. The first USD 3,000 is due by 16 November at 17:00, before the planned start; the second USD 3,000 is due on 22 December, day 31. The start remains subject to completed funding and onboarding checks. No meeting, account or enrollment has been completed simply by issuing P2.

P2 proposes private meetings on 24 November, 8 December, 22 December and 12 January, the shared workshop on 15 December and final review on 20 January. Document-review returns are proposed for 3 December and 7 January, with submission arrangements stated. Support is staffed Monday to Friday except 24 December through 3 January; the final question cutoff is 19 January for a reply by 20 January at 17:00. These are proposed service dates, not confirmed bookings or activities already delivered.

On 10 November Eli spends five minutes reading and accepting the corrected participation limits. Mina spends ten checking the corrected counts, vendor-pack completeness and purchase-order route, then replying. This is a limited completeness check, not a full security audit. Jamie spends ten reading and signing the P2 statement of work within his stipulated authority. All three returns go to Noor.

Noor spends fifteen minutes on 11 November reading the returns, checking the correct P2 signature record and preparing and sending the first USD 3,000 invoice to Mina with the agreed reference. Mina uses ten minutes on 12 November reading and arranging the payment submission.

Noor spends ten minutes on 15 November checking and reading its processing status. Processing is not money received. Mina spends five minutes on 16 November reading the pending bank status and notifying Noor. The 17:00 receipt deadline is missed; submitting the payment earlier does not erase that miss.

On 17 November Noor spends ten minutes reading Mina's notice, checking the verified bank settlement entry and preparing and sending the following complete status to all three:

The first USD 3,000 is now verified as received on 17 November, after the 16 November receipt deadline. P2 is the signed scope; P1's quarterly wording is superseded. No shared session will be recorded. The second USD 3,000 remains due on 22 December and has not been received. We are retaining the planned 22 November start subject to the remaining onboarding checks. This message does not confirm an enrolled account or booked meeting. Please keep private coaching content separate from the agreed shared-work and sponsor records.

Jamie, Eli and Mina each spend five minutes reading that status on 18 November and send no further acknowledgment. The known receipt is USD 3,000 gross, not USD 6,000 collected or net income; actual payment fees are not supplied. No pilot meetings or reviews have happened at this cutoff. The other three workshop participants' future arrangements still need to be completed.

The all-written account totals 230 person-minutes against 300 allocated: a difference of seventy, comprising Noor thirty, Jamie fifteen, Eli fifteen and Mina ten. Earlier discovery, material creation and later service work are outside this bounded account, not free. That difference is not whole-practice capacity or pilot margin.

Give the champion a decision paper

A one-page champion brief for the original middle-tier option can contain the following fields. It is a proposed decision aid, separate from the pilot actually selected above.

FieldIllustrative content
NeedClarify handoffs among four regions and support one new leader.
Recommended optionIndividual plus team process.
ScopeTwo private meetings monthly, one shared session quarterly, stated reviews and support.
CostUSD 4,000 monthly; USD 12,000 for three months before applicable taxes and expenses.
AlternativesFocused, four-leader, separately defined pilot or no purchase.
EvidenceAgreed examples of role clarity and participant-approved observations.
DependenciesAuthority, participants, appropriate information exchange and time for shared work.
DecisionAuthorized scope and procurement approval before starting.

This is not a fictional ROI justification. If savings projections are requested, identify evidence, assumptions, full costs and attribution limits with the appropriate finance owner.

Use three follow-ups only when they fit the buyer's process

These complete original templates are alternatives to adapt, not additional messages Noor sent. Days three, seven and fourteen can be planning examples; they are not automatic rules or reasons to ignore a request to stop.

Hi Jamie, did the current proposal reach the intended reviewers? The table separates private coaching and shared work. I can supply an accessible format or clarify a specific allowance if useful. Please tell me who owns the next decision and whether you want further follow-up while the review is underway.
Hi Jamie, your question concerned the quarterly shared session. The proposal notes now include a sample agenda and its intended output. Would a brief question session help, or would you prefer that I wait for procurement? I will follow the process you choose rather than add meetings to your review.
Hi Jamie, I am checking the proposed start timetable. Is the current date still realistic, should it move, or is this scope no longer under consideration? I can confirm actual availability once the scope and approval route are clear. A changed date will not be treated as acceptance or a commitment to buy.

Do not invent scarce availability or send an unrelated specialist compliance framework. Check permissions on confidential attachments and honor a request to stop follow-up.

Handle later changes through an approved scope

Eight leaders instead of four changes private capacity and support. At two private meetings per leader monthly, eight leaders mean sixteen private meetings, rather than eight. Recalculate preparation, shared work, reporting, permissions, price and dates; do not simply change a name in the table.

A change order records participants, counts, outputs, information boundaries, fee, effective date and approving authority, plus which existing terms remain. Then configure the actual service and billing. A signed addendum does not create a program, charge a card or rewrite every purchased entitlement. The corporate advisory agreement guide develops those supporting terms.

Separate delivery configuration from proposal selection

First explain the proposal in a suitable written format or optional walkthrough. Then share the correct version with authorized reviewers. Finally complete the selected contracting, payment, account, enrollment, access and booking steps.

Coachful is our #1 recommendation for organizing this defined advisory offer and its delivery records. That editorial recommendation concerns the workflow, not guaranteed procurement approval. Configure the actual programs, resources, sessions and access in each Offer tier. Offers support two to six tiers; descriptions alone do not grant their benefits.

Native agreements have activation, recipient-copy and signing steps. Signed copies, eligible pending copies and customized copies have different version behavior, so check the specific update setting rather than assume every issued copy is fixed. Selecting a proposal and signing its agreement remain distinct from payment and joined access.

Existing buyers retain the plan, price and access they purchased when future tiers change. Check the coach or client plan-change route before promising an immediate charge or benefit. Compare the retainer software guide and Coachful's features against the actual selected scope. The demo screens are not Noor's proposal, invoice or signature records.

Measure with a consistent denominator and eight checks

In a separate hypothetical March review, twenty proposals meet the stated qualification rule: six accepted, seven declined, two withdrawn and five pending at cutoff. Six of twenty is 30% acceptance for that set, not a final resolved-cohort rate or a result from Noor's November example. Preserve pending and withdrawn states rather than changing the denominator to improve a headline.

A document opening does not establish comprehension, authority or intent. Use only actual supported records and appropriate privacy practices. Digital delivery alone does not demonstrate a 40% closing-rate improvement.

  1. The brief separates confirmed needs and assumptions.
  2. Each option is real, useful and deliverable.
  3. Participants, meetings, preparation, reviews and questions are explicit.
  4. Additional work has an approval and pricing route.
  5. Total fees, dates, taxes, expenses and exit terms are understandable.
  6. The roadmap accounts for included meetings and reviews.
  7. The current version and acceptance steps are clear.
  8. Private, sponsor and shared-work audiences remain appropriately separate.

Frequently asked questions

Why offer several tiers?

To compare genuine scope tradeoffs. The buyer can still decline or request a different service.

Must there be three?

No. Use enough options to explain useful choices without unnecessary complexity.

What if a buyer requests higher-tier benefits?

Clarify priorities and agree revised scope, a reallocation or additional fee before promising delivery.

Can I deliver the proposal digitally?

Yes, with suitable actual tools and permissions. Selection, signature, payment and access remain separate.

What if the scope is bespoke?

Use the matrix as a structure, then replace examples with real counts, participants and work. Recalculate capacity.

Should payment terms appear?

Include enough commercial information to understand the commitment and reference its supporting agreement.

Do clients naturally move up tiers?

Some need more support and others less. Expansion is not the assumed successful outcome.

Can Coachful support tiered delivery?

Configure actual Offer benefits and verify supported agreement, payment and client workflows against the selected service.
