Kajabi vs Skool for Coaches: Price, Features and Fit in 2026

Kajabi vs Skool for Coaches: Price, Features and Fit in 2026

In the Kajabi vs Skool decision, Kajabi is the better pick if you sell courses and want a website, funnels and email marketing in the same account, and Skool is the better pick if your offer is a community with a classroom attached and you want the lowest fixed monthly cost. Kajabi starts at $179 a month as listed in October 2026; Skool starts at $9 a month but takes 10% of every sale on that plan. Neither one is built for 1:1 coaching: no client records, habits or daily check-ins on either side.

That last point matters if you coach individuals or run programs where clients do work between sessions. So this guide compares the two on price, fees, courses, community, marketing and client experience, then covers a third option, Coachful, for coaches whose business is delivery rather than content. We make Coachful, so we say plainly where Kajabi or Skool is the better fit.

What is the short answer to Kajabi vs Skool?

Pick by what you are selling. If the product is content to many people, Kajabi or Skool; if the product is a coaching relationship, neither is a natural home.

  • You sell courses and want your own marketing machine: Kajabi. Its Basic plan includes unlimited funnels, landing pages and marketing emails, plus a website and one community.
  • You run a paid group or membership and want it cheap and simple: Skool. One group, a classroom for courses, a calendar for live calls and gamified leaderboards, with unlimited members on both plans.
  • You are testing an idea with almost no budget: Skool Hobby at $9 a month, as long as you accept the 10% fee on sales.
  • You need a branded mobile app for students: Kajabi, but only on Pro at $499 a month, according to its October 2026 comparison table.
  • You coach 1:1 or run programs with daily habits and check-ins: neither. Coachful covers booking, payments, contracts, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website and email in one subscription.

If you only want the narrow head-to-head and already know you do not coach individuals, the next three sections are enough. For deeper single-vendor detail, read our Kajabi review and Skool review.

How do Kajabi and Skool compare side by side?

Kajabi is a broad content business platform with a fixed monthly price and contact limits; Skool is a narrow community platform with a low fixed price and fees on every sale.

Ranked on what matters most to coaches: one login for the whole client journey, delivery between sessions, total stack cost, and setup effort (including a free white-glove build).

Kajabi's homepage in October 2026.

Kajabi is a platform for selling knowledge products: courses, a community, a website, funnels and email under one login, with the number of products and contacts set by your plan. It is the heavier, more expensive tool, and it gives you more marketing control.

Skool's homepage, promoting its community and classroom platform
Skool's homepage in October 2026.

Skool is deliberately small. Each group has a community feed, a classroom for course content and a calendar for live calls, and members earn points on a leaderboard. There is no website builder for your own domain, no funnel builder and no email automation, and Skool's pricing page lists the same features on both plans; the difference between Hobby and Pro is the price and the fee.

How much do Kajabi and Skool cost?

Kajabi costs $179, $249 or $499 a month (or $143, $199 or $399 a month billed yearly), and Skool costs $9 or $99 a month, as listed in October 2026. The real gap is narrower than those numbers suggest, because Skool's fees on sales are much heavier on its cheaper plan.

Kajabi's pricing page in October 2026.

A few details on Kajabi's page change the maths. The Basic plan has no AI credits and caps you at 2,500 contacts and 5 products, which a coach with a lead magnet and a few mini-courses can hit quickly. Extra contacts are listed at $125 a month per 25,000. Kajabi's annual figures come from structured data on the pricing page, and the Kickstarter plan that some older reviews mention is not on the public pricing page today. Kajabi Payments rates shown are for US entities. Our Kajabi pricing breakdown goes through each plan in more depth.

Skool pricing page with Hobby and Pro plans
Skool's pricing page in October 2026.

Skool's page advertises yearly billing as "2 months free" but does not print the yearly totals; earlier listings showed $90 and $990 a year, which is where the per-month figures above come from. Every community is a separate subscription, so a coach who wants a free lead group and a paid client group pays twice. Skool's help center says fees are non-refundable and payouts go out weekly on Wednesdays in local currency. See our Skool pricing guide for the full fee picture.

What does a month really cost? A worked example

Fixed fees and percentage fees trade off, so it helps to run one example. Assume, purely as an illustration, that you collect $3,000 in a month from 10 payments of $300. These are example numbers, not benchmarks.

Tool and planPlan costFees on the $3,000 exampleExample totalStill missing for 1:1 coaching

Skool Hobby$9$300 (10%) + $3 (10 x 30¢) = $303$312Booking tool, website, email platform, contracts, client tracking
Skool Pro$99$87 (2.9%) + $3 = $90$189Booking tool, website, email platform, contracts, client tracking

Kajabi Growth (Kajabi Payments, US)$249$84 (2.8%) + $3 = $87$336Habit and check-in tracking, per-client plans, contracts

Three things fall out of this example. First, Skool Hobby is only cheap while revenue is tiny: once you pass about $1,300 a month in sales, the 10% fee costs more than upgrading to Pro, and past about $2,400 even Kajabi Basic on Kajabi Payments costs less than Hobby. Second, Kajabi's card rates on Kajabi Payments are similar to Skool Pro's, so the gap between them is mostly the plan price. Third, if you run payments on Kajabi through a provider other than Kajabi Payments or PayPal, add 2% on Basic: $60 on this example, on top of that provider's own fees.

The column on the right is the part most comparisons skip. A coach on Skool usually adds a scheduling tool, an email platform and a website builder, and a coach on either platform needs somewhere to keep client notes, agreements and progress. Those subscriptions belong in the total. Our pricing guides for Calendly and HoneyBook show what the common add-ons cost.

Trials, guarantees and free plans

Neither tool has a permanent free plan. Kajabi's help center describes a 14-day trial where a card is optional; if you enter one, Kajabi places an authorization hold and charges when the trial ends, and some features (bulk contact import, test emails, some automations) stay locked until you activate a paid plan. Kajabi also lists a 30-day money-back guarantee on every plan. Skool's pricing page shows "Try for free" buttons, but neither the page nor its help FAQ states the trial length or card requirement in October 2026, so check at sign-up.

Which is better for courses, Kajabi or Skool?

Kajabi is the stronger course platform. Skool's classroom is good enough for a library of videos inside a community, but it is a section of a group, not a course business.

Kajabi treats each course as a product with its own pricing and access, sold through landing pages and funnels and followed up by email. That structure suits coaches who sell a signature course, a few mini-courses and a membership. The limit to watch is the product count: 5 on Basic, 50 on Growth and unlimited on Pro. A coach who splits content into many small offers will hit 5 quickly.

Skool's classroom lives inside the group. Members open it next to the feed and the calendar, which keeps courses and conversation in the same place and is a real strength for cohort-style learning. Both Skool plans allow unlimited courses and videos. What you lose is the commerce around the course: no separate sales pages on your own domain, no funnels and no email sequences to bring buyers back.

Neither platform turns a course into a coaching program with weekly goals, daily tasks and check-ins tied to each client. That is the gap a coaching platform fills, and it is why many coaches end up running a course tool and a coaching tool side by side. If audio is part of your content, our guide to delivering audio courses without Kajabi covers the setup.

For comparison, Coachful's courses use modules, lessons, drip release and completion tracking, and they appear in the client's branded home next to their sessions and program tasks. There are 48 course templates with quizzes to start from. More on that on our course platform for coaches page.

Which has the better community, Kajabi or Skool?

Skool. The community is the product, and the leaderboard mechanics, the classroom and the calendar all sit around it. Kajabi's community is a solid add-on to a course business, limited to one community on Basic and Growth and three on Pro.

Skool's appeal for group coaches is focus. Members land in one feed, see who is active, earn points for participating and find the next live call on the calendar. For a mastermind or a paid group where peer interaction is the value, that focus helps. The trade-offs are that each group is its own subscription, everything runs through Skool Payments, and, according to an older Skool profile from September 2026, posts, DMs and course progress are not exportable; only the member list exports to CSV.

Kajabi's community works best as a companion to its courses: a place for students to discuss modules and for you to host sessions. If community is the core of your business and you are weighing Kajabi against a dedicated community tool, our Kajabi vs Circle guide is the closer match.

A demo client community feed in Coachful with a live Q&A session and coach posts.

Coachful's community is built around programs rather than as a standalone group: a community feed, group chat, direct messages and video events, with cohort groups created automatically when a client enrolls in a program. That suits coaches whose groups are client cohorts. Our guide on hosting client masterminds without Skool walks through it, and the group coaching software page lists what is included.

Can Kajabi or Skool run your website, funnels and email?

Kajabi can; Skool cannot. Kajabi includes a website, unlimited funnels and landing pages, and marketing emails from Basic up. Skool has no custom-domain website, no funnels, no email automation and no public API.

This is the biggest functional difference between the two. On Kajabi, a prospect can find your site, opt in for a freebie, receive an email sequence and buy a course without leaving the platform. On Skool, the group is the destination, so you need another tool for the steps before someone joins: a website, a landing page builder and an email platform. That is workable, and plenty of coaches do it, but it means more logins and more subscriptions.

Kajabi's caps are the thing to plan for. Basic includes 1 website and 2,500 contacts. If your list grows past that, you are either on Growth ($249 a month) or buying extra contacts. Growth adds automation and scale features such as an affiliate program; Pro adds 3 websites and multiple brands.

Coachful includes a section-based website builder with a blog, custom domain, SEO settings and 30 designed homepage templates, plus booking, application, lead-magnet and checkout funnels with pixels and UTM tracking, and email lists, broadcasts and multi-step sequences with triggers, delays, branching and A/B splits. Our Coachful vs Kajabi funnels and email comparison goes into the detail, and the coach website builder page shows the templates.

How do payments and data ownership compare?

Kajabi gives you more payment choice, and Skool keeps everything inside Skool Payments. On data, both export member or contact lists, and neither exports everything.

On Kajabi, you can use Kajabi Payments or PayPal at the standard rates, or connect another provider and pay an extra Kajabi fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth or 0.5% on Pro on top of that provider's fees. On Skool, there is one route: Skool Payments, with the plan's fee and weekly Wednesday payouts. If you already have a Stripe account you want to keep using, Skool does not support it.

For data, Kajabi offers CSV exports for contacts, subscriptions, sales and members, emailed to you; course content has to be downloaded manually asset by asset, and an older Kajabi profile from September 2026 noted that data is removed 90 days after cancellation. Skool exports members to CSV with name, email, join date and membership answers, but not posts, DMs or course progress, according to the same September 2026 profile. Either way, plan your exit before you build a large library.

Coachful runs payments through your own Stripe Connect or Razorpay account, with one-time payments, subscriptions, payment plans, order bumps, coupons, refunds, Apple Pay and Google Pay, Stripe Tax and an invoice per transaction. There is a 0% Coachful platform fee (since August 2026), so you only pay Stripe or Razorpay processing. Coachful does not support PayPal. The full client record (roster, notes, check-ins, goals, habits, sessions and form responses) exports as a ZIP, and courses export too. See the coaching payment software page for details.

What does the client experience look like on each?

On Skool, a client is a member of a group; on Kajabi, a client is a customer with access to products and a community. On neither is the client a person with their own plan, goals, habits and session history in front of them.

A Skool member sees the group's feed, classroom and calendar, and their points on the leaderboard. That is a friendly, simple experience for group learning. A Kajabi customer sees the products they bought and the community, on the web or, on Pro, in a branded mobile app (Kajabi's October 2026 comparison table lists the branded app as Pro-only).

What neither shows the client is anything personal: no "this week's goal", no daily tasks, no morning check-in, no habit streak, no notes from the last session, no signed agreement. Kajabi's own model is products and communities, not per-client plans, and Skool has no 1:1 client records, intake forms, habits or check-ins. For coaches who sell outcomes that depend on what happens between calls, that is the gap.

In Coachful, the client opens one branded home and app (your branding inside the Coachful app) with their programs, upcoming sessions, progress, documents, community and courses. Programs run for multiple weeks with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks.

On the coach's side, each client record holds goals, check-ins, habits, notes, intake answers, tags, payments and sessions, plus an AI briefing before each session and a status of thriving, active, quiet or at risk. That is how you notice a client drifting before they cancel. The coaching CRM page shows the record in more detail.

Which should you pick for which kind of coach?

Match the tool to the shape of your offer. Here is how we would decide, based on what each vendor documents.

  • Course-first coach with a growing audience: Kajabi. You get courses, funnels, email and a website together, and the contact limits scale with plans. Budget for Growth once your list passes 2,500.
  • Mastermind or paid group host: Skool Pro, if peer interaction is the main value and you do not need your own website or email sequences inside the same tool. Avoid Hobby once sales pass about $1,300 a month.
  • Coach testing a first group: Skool Hobby is the cheapest way to start, but compare the 10% fee to the plan cost each month.
  • Coach who wants a branded student app: Kajabi Pro, at $499 a month.
  • Life, business, career or executive coach with 1:1 clients: neither, because you need booking, agreements and client records. See our pages for life coaches and business coaches.
  • Coach running multi-week programs with daily habits: neither, for the same reason. Coachful is built for that shape.
  • Coach running a membership where service and billing both matter: read how to run coaching memberships without Kajabi before committing.

If you have already ruled out one of the two, our lists of Kajabi alternatives for coaches and Skool alternatives compare the wider field.

Is there a third option that covers 1:1 coaching too?

Yes. Coachful is a coaching platform that puts booking, payments, contracts, programs with habits and check-ins, courses, community, a website with funnels and email, and an AI assistant into one subscription, with one login for you and one branded app for your clients.

Coachful's client dashboard on a laptop beside its community feed on a tablet
Coachful's client dashboard with demo clients on a laptop, beside the community feed on a tablet.

What it is. Coachful is built for coaches who deliver programs, not just sessions; for solo coaches growing into a small team; and for coaches replacing four to six tools. The company is based in Tallinn, Estonia, and has a Trustpilot score of 4.5 from 21 reviews.

What it covers that Kajabi and Skool do not.

  • Booking pages with availability rules, buffers, minimum notice and time-zone detection; two-way Google, Apple/iCloud and Outlook calendar sync; built-in video or auto-created Zoom, Meet or Teams links; email reminders, plus SMS and WhatsApp reminders once messaging is enabled; paid sessions and session credits.
  • Coaching agreements with e-signature, sent before the first call and stored on the client record.
  • Multi-week programs with weekly goals, daily tasks, habits, morning and evening check-ins, goals with progress bars and streaks.
  • Michelle, the built-in AI assistant, which works from your live practice data: it builds programs, drafts emails and content, summarizes recorded sessions and briefs you before sessions. Questions and planning are included in your membership; confirmed builds and changes use AI credits.
  • An AI Coach, an AI version of you that selected clients can chat with between sessions, set up by you.
  • ICF credential tracking that counts coaching hours and distinct clients against ACC, PCC and MCC thresholds and exports an ICF client coaching log (see ICF hour tracking).
  • Team plans with coach seats, per-coach availability and staff permissions, plus round-robin or least-busy assignment for multi-coach session types.

Here is a short walkthrough of how programs are built and delivered in Coachful:

Where it overlaps with both. Coachful also has courses (modules, lessons, drip, completion tracking), a community with cohort groups, a website builder with blog and custom domain, funnels, email sequences and a link-in-bio page that sells. So a coach leaving Kajabi or Skool does not lose the content side. Current plans: Lite: $29/month for up to 5 clients; Solo: $49/month for up to 20 clients; Pro: $99/month with unlimited clients; Studio: $199/month with unlimited clients. Plans are flat and monthly, lower plans cap the number of clients, Pro is unlimited, and monthly plans cancel in one click.

Why Coachful stands out: a free white-glove service. On every plan, you can ask the Coachful team to build something for you inside your own account: a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline and written material, coaching flow, form, email sequence, link in bio, lead quiz, event or automation. You describe it, attach up to 8 reference links and up to 10 files (logos, photos, brand guides, copy), and the team usually builds it within about 24 hours. Nothing gets invented: no fake credentials, testimonials or prices, and gaps are left for you to fill. It does not cover recording videos, logo design, ad management or ongoing marketing. One recent example: a somatic coach leaving Kajabi had their homepage and About page rebuilt and their contact form connected. Another: a leadership coach with a Squarespace renewal days away got one clean homepage with a repeated "talk with me" button. Read more about the free white-glove service.

When Coachful beats both. If you coach individuals or run programs where clients act between sessions, Coachful replaces the course tool, the booking tool, the contract tool and the client tracker at once, with 0% Coachful platform fees on your sales. For a coach on Skool who also pays for scheduling, email and a website, or a coach on Kajabi Growth who tracks clients in spreadsheets, that consolidation is the main gain. Clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding.

When it does not. Be honest with yourself about these:

  • If your business is a large, community-first group with no 1:1 work and you like Skool's leaderboards, Skool Pro is simpler.
  • If you sell many courses to a big list and want a course marketplace, Coachful is not a marketplace.
  • If you need PayPal, Coachful does not offer it; Kajabi does.
  • If you need your own App Store listing, Coachful's client app ships under the Coachful listing with your branding; Kajabi Pro offers an App Store app.
  • If you need HIPAA compliance, Coachful is not HIPAA-certified and has no BAA.
  • If you need a Salesforce or HubSpot integration, a deal pipeline for a large sales team, or third-party plugins, Coachful does not have them.
  • Coachful's affiliate program tracks links, clicks, conversions and revenue, but payouts are recorded manually rather than sent by Coachful.

How to start. Start a free trial, then use the white-glove service to have your website, funnel or first program built for you. If you are comparing directly, our Coachful vs Kajabi and Coachful vs Skool pages set out each comparison line by line.

What do public reviews say about Kajabi and Skool?

On Trustpilot in October 2026, Kajabi scores 3.4 from 2,347 reviews and Skool scores 1.6 from 54 reviews. Review scores reflect who chooses to leave a review, so read them as a signal to check the details, not a verdict.

ToolTrustpilot scoreNumber of reviewsWhat to keep in mind
Coachful4.521Small sample
Kajabi3.42,347Large sample
Skool1.654Small sample; an older profile noted Skool was not listed on G2 or Capterra

Kajabi's score moved from 3.5 to 3.4 since our earlier profile, and Skool's from 1.7 to 1.6. Because Skool's sample is small, a handful of reviews can move it, which is worth remembering when you read it. Coachful's sample is smaller still.

How hard is it to switch between Kajabi and Skool?

Moving is mostly manual in both directions, because neither platform exports course content or community posts in a form the other can import.

Going from Kajabi to Skool, you export contacts and members to CSV, download course assets one by one, rebuild the courses in Skool's classroom, and decide where your website and email will live, since Skool has neither. Going from Skool to Kajabi, you export the member list (name, email, join date and membership answers), rebuild courses and accept that posts, DMs and course progress stay behind. In both cases, check how paying subscribers will move, because payments are tied to each platform's own processor.

If your website lives on Kajabi, our guide to moving a coaching website off Kajabi, Wix or Squarespace covers redirects and domain steps. If you move to Coachful, clients, programs and content are imported for you during onboarding, and the white-glove service can rebuild your site.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kajabi or Skool cheaper?

Skool has the lower plan price ($9 or $99 a month against Kajabi's $179 to $499, as listed in October 2026). But Skool Hobby takes 10% + 30¢ of every sale, so once your sales pass about $1,300 a month, Skool Pro works out cheaper, and past about $2,400 so does Kajabi Basic on Kajabi Payments. Run your own numbers with your expected monthly revenue.

Can I build a website on Skool?

No. Skool has no custom-domain website builder, no funnels and no email automation. Coaches on Skool usually pair it with a separate website and email tool, which adds to the monthly cost.

Does Kajabi have a community like Skool?

Yes, Kajabi includes one community on Basic and Growth and three on Pro. It works well alongside courses. Skool's community is more central to the product, with leaderboards, a classroom and a calendar built around the feed.

Which is better for group coaching, Kajabi or Skool?

For a group where peer interaction is the value, Skool is simpler and cheaper. For a group program sold through funnels and email, Kajabi fits better. If the group also needs sessions, agreements and per-client check-ins, a coaching platform such as Coachful covers those, with cohort groups created automatically when clients enroll.

Can I use my own Stripe account on Kajabi or Skool?

On Skool, no: all payments go through Skool Payments. On Kajabi, you can connect other providers, but Kajabi adds an extra fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth or 0.5% on Pro on top of the provider's fees, unless you use Kajabi Payments or PayPal.

Do Kajabi or Skool track client habits and check-ins?

No. Neither documents habit tracking, daily check-ins or per-client plans. Kajabi's coaching model is products and communities, and Skool has no 1:1 client records or intake forms.

Does Kajabi have a branded mobile app?

Yes, but Kajabi's October 2026 comparison table lists the branded mobile app as Pro-only, and Pro is $499 a month or $399 a month billed yearly. Check the current table before you buy if the app is a deciding factor.

What is Coachful's free white-glove service?

On every Coachful plan, you can ask the team to build a website, funnel, sales page, program, course outline, email sequence or similar inside your account, usually within about 24 hours. You attach up to 8 reference links and 10 files. The team does not invent credentials, testimonials or prices, and the service does not include video recording, logo design or ad management.

Is Coachful a replacement for both Kajabi and Skool?

For coaches who deliver programs and sessions, yes: it includes courses, community, a website, funnels and email alongside booking, contracts and client programs. For a pure course marketplace, a PayPal-dependent business or a coach who needs their own App Store app, Kajabi remains the better fit, and for a large community-only group, Skool may be simpler.

Can I try Kajabi and Skool before paying?

Kajabi offers a 14-day trial with an optional card and a 30-day money-back guarantee on every plan. Skool shows "Try for free" buttons, but its pricing page and help FAQ do not state the trial length or card terms in October 2026. Coachful offers a free trial too.
